Whimsy On The Set…Action!

A few weeks ago we were invited to join the cast and crew on the set of The Con Artists’ Guide to Quick Getaways, and boy did we have fun.

A short student film, it was filmed on campus and directed by Ryerson’s very own and talented, Hanna Jovin and Sarah Simone. We were thrilled when Hanna asked if we’d help out as costume assistants, providing the dresses, the pearls and the fur. Lots and lots of fur. Inspired by the directorial style of Wes Anderson (swoon), it was quirky, pastel-y and all around great fun. Mr. Gustave would have surely approved.

Once we dressed the cast, we had the opportunity to put our tried and true creeper skills to the test. Meandering through the cameras and microphones, we sneakily captured on film the behind-the-scenes photographs and video seen below like the aspiring undercover journalists we are.

It was a great weekend filled with new experiences and the chance to meet some of the most talented people we know. The actors, the crew and the directors blew us away with their dedication and ability to snap in and out of character.
