It’s A Costume Party

By Alex and Sam

It’s our party and we’ll cry if we want to…except not really because how could you with all the balloons, disco balls and moustaches?

(Actually, there were a few tears shed and goose bumps raised when the balloons started mysteriously and ever so suddenly popping, but we won’t talk about that.)

For our first photo shoot we decided to turn up the contrast and leave our inhibitions at the door. Whilst blasting Supergrass, Toro y Moi—and the occasional Cody Simpson record—we buttoned our shirts, squeezed into our bodysuits, and applied the ‘staches and bold lipstick, both of us hoping to avoid looking like complete imbeciles whilst doing the sprinkler and being photographed.

The look? The vision? The inspiration behind all of this? Somewhere between 1980s prom, high contrast and Lesley Gore’s infamous party (minus poor Johnny leaving). Despite the happy-go-lucky, bubble gum theme, we aimed for a tougher approach, attempting to look like the kids who were clearly above this party. We were the token cool kids.

Just as Julie Andrews informs Princess Mia; a picture is worth 1000 words (though we definitely have more than two) we’ll let you decide if we pulled this off.

Here are the rest of the photos from the shoot:

Until next time,
